Handspun Jacob Wool and Alpaca Blend Yarn - Worsted Weight - Bo Peep

This single ply yarn was hand processed from start to finish. It is a blend of our own home grown Jacob wool from one of our ewes, Bo Peep. (Pictured) Bo Peep is 100% Jacob and has a gorgeous fleece that is almost all black. This yarn is a blend of roughly 50% Jacob wool and 50% alpaca that I purchased as a raw fleece from a local Ohio family farm and also processed by hand. The fibers were blended on my drum carder before spinning on my Kromski Polonaise spinning wheel.

This yarn is not dyed, it is the natural color of the fibers.

While this yarn is soft, it has that slight natural wool itch. If that's not your thing, I would recommend using it for an outerwear project. Even though this wool was processed entirely by hand, there is virtually no vegetable matter in the finished yarn.

This is a single ply worsted weight yarn with an average of 10 WPI. Being handspun, there are occasional spots that measure closer to 11 WPI. Personally, I think the very slight imperfection is the major appeal of working with handspun yarns and creating one of a kind finished pieces.

* (Vegetable matter is what we call any tiny pieces of hay or grass that the animals have gotten into. I do my very best to remove as much as possible but sometimes is still sneaks through when I process a raw fleece by hand.)
